The Sands Hotel, Margate

As an impromptu break we decided to go to Margate (more on which later). As we were staying only one night I thought we could splash out a bit, so tried the number one hotel in Margate, The Sands.

Although it's not cheap, I couldn't find fault with our 'superior seaview' room or the hotel as a whole. Our room had a small balcony on the sea front. However, given the very nice roof terrace, the panoramic views from the restaurant (and terrace in front of the restaurant) even if you don't spend the extra on a balcony or seaview, it's a great holiday.

Our room was very nice, clean and tastefully decorated, nice plaster cornicing, a decent size with a generous
sized bathroom (with separate large bath and walk-in shower).

Breakfast is served in the restaurant so I was able to enjoy watching the tide whilst enjoying a kipper. I thought that was the perfect end to our stay, but after pottering about the town we returned to collect our bag and treated ourselves to a delicious gelato from the hotel's own icecream parlour on the seafront. That was the perfect end.
